How To Start A WordPress Blog In 5 Minutes
This is a simple tutorial to set up your own self-hosted WordPress site or blog. For a limited time, Bluehost is offering a special just for my readers to create their own sites. Click here to capitalize on it, this is a steal so I recommend it getting it while you can!

My blog has been built on WordPress since day one. Not only has it been the easiest platform to manage, but it's been the best way for me to grow my online presence. My blog has reached hundreds of thousands of readers worldwide, provided me the opportunity to deliver speeches across the world and helped me earn interviews on top media platforms.

I'm going to get started and show you how you can create a WordPress blog of your own really easily:
Step 1: Choosing Your Web Host
There are a lot of great hosting providers out there, but for a WordPress site, Bluehost should be at the top of anyone's list. Bluehost is a hosting service that is officially recommended by WordPress and has been so for almost 10 years. Here are some of the reasons why Bluehost is highly recommended:
  • Awesome customer service that is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Reliable and easy to use
  • Simple control panel for managing your site
  • Custom-built servers that provide a reliable and stable hosting environment
  • No contracts and no gimmicks with 30-day money back guarantees and the option to cancel at any time.
To sweeten this deal even more, if you choose to sign up through this tutorial, you will receive a special discount for ONLY $4.95/month.

To get your hosting account set up with Bluehost, follow the steps listed below. It'll speed up the process if you think of a domain name that you would like to use and if you have your credit card information ready to go to make the payment before you do get started.
Step 2: Setting Up Your Hosting Account
To get started, go to Bluehost's home page and click on the "Get Started Now" button.
Next, you need to select a domain name for your new site. If you already own a domain name, you can also enter it here and you'll have to go through a couple more steps to make sure your DNS has been pointed to Bluehost. If you don't already have your own domain name, you can obtain a new one right from the sign up process.
To get started, go to Bluehost's home page and click on the "Get Started Now" button.
Next, you'll be asked to choose the hosting package that you want. You can choose between different monthly terms for your hosting package. These durations range from 12, 24 or 36-month terms. In order to help you save some money, the longer term you purchase, the lower the monthly rate will be. For example, if you choose a 36-month hosting term, you'll only end up paying $4.95/month.

You can also obtain some other offers that provided during the sign, which you can purchase at your own discretion. One that I tend to purchase is known as Domain Privacy, which is a paid service that protects your personal information by keeping it hidden on the WHOIS databases.
After you have filled in the information and selected your hosting package, press the "Next" button to complete the purchase. From there, you will be asked to create a new password for your account. You can use the password generator provided or you can make one yourself. You need to have both capital and lowercase letters, a special character (#*!?, and a number in your password so you can fully protect your account.

Now that you've signed up, you can log in to your account and begin installing WordPress!
Step 3: Installing WordPress
This may sound really complicated, but I promise it's extremely easy. Bluehost has been working with WordPress to make it one of the easiest things for you to do. In your cPanel, scroll down to the section that says "MOJO Marketplace" and select the "One-Click Installs" option. You will then be taken to a page in the MOJO Marketplace called "Scripts and Platforms". The section for creating a blog is at the very top, so you just need to click on the WordPress icon at the top.
This will open up an installation window. Click on the "Start" button in green so it starts up the whole process, which requires a couple of easy steps.
1. Choose where you would like to install WordPress

This can be selected to any of the domains on your account or even a subdomain or folder for any of your domains. Next, you will click on "Check Domain", which makes sure that the domain has been assigned and is properly pointed towards your account.

You will get a warning stating that you are overwriting some files. You can check the box and continue as long as you do not have another website built already under that domain name. If you do happen to have another site built, you may want to make sure you aren't overwriting something important or that you back your files up properly.
2. Show the advanced options

This section tends to allow you to set up your own username/password for your WordPress installation. It is highly recommended to use a different username than just "admin" and an extremely strong password. Make sure that you also check the box for "Automatically creating a new database for this installation".
3. Agree To Terms & Conditions

After you have read through the terms and conditions, check the box at the bottom indicating that you have done so and click on "Install Now".
Now, you should see a progress page that shows you how far along on the installation you are. Once WordPress has fully been installed, it will show your site URL, the admin login URL, and your username/password. You'll get a copy of all of this information except for your password in your inbox as well. Be sure to store this information in a safe place.
Now that you have set all this up, you can login to your WordPress site by visiting the admin login URL. Enter the username and password before clicking "Log In". This ends up taking you to your Wordpress dashboard. From there, you can control everything that you want on your WordPress Site. You can create pages, write posts, change the appearances, and do just about anything else.

Remember, if you sign up using this tutorial....you'll get a special offer for only $4.95/month! Sign up here.
