10 Ridiculous Reasons Why People Never Take Action
When you think of becoming an entrepreneur, it can be kind of scary. It’s one thing is to dream about being the driving force behind your career success, but it’s a whole another different thing to actually do it. This demands commitment, a fair dose of strategic thinking and a limitless amount of patience and persistence.
Almost all excuses can be overcome by making entrepreneurship work for you; by adapting it to your particular needs and skills. It can be done without diving head-on into something you’re not ready for.
Here are 10 ridiculous reasons why people never take action:
1. Fear of Failure and Consequences If You Made a Mistake
The possibility of mistakes will always be around you, regardless of what type of entrepreneurial actions you will take. So, it is normal for you to have a fear of making a mistake. However, the biggest mistake can be unwilling to try because of your fear of failing.
2. I Don’t Have Time
We all have the same amount of time to work with. Some have demanding corporate jobs, some have hungry mouths to feed and others seem to have all the time in the world. However, that doesn’t mean that you should let time stop you from doing what you want. You can work at your own pace and take action because some action is better than no action.
3. I’m Not Good Enough
Not everyone has a great amount of self-confidence. That doesn’t mean they’re bad people or that they lack motivation. They just have a fear that they won’t be able to make good on commitments so they shy away from it. Professional help may be warranted if self-esteem issues are a continuing problem. For most people, using the excuse that they’re not good enough is a stalling tactic.
4. I Need To Be Rolling In Cash
Another excuse that tends to affect aspiring entrepreneurs is the lack of money. Most people think they need hundreds of thousands of dollars to get their ventures off of the ground. You can raise funds through investors, bootstrap or borrow money to get your dreams launched.
5. What About My Family, Friends, and Kids?
When you embark on your path to greatness, there will always be people that will stand in your way. It’s not personal. They oppose you because you’re challenging their belief system. You’re showing them through your actions that you can follow your heart. When you’re just about to start, you’ll be alone because no one believes you can do it. You have to be willing to stick out the inertia of the beginning stages.
The journey may be brutal at times, but the harder it gets, the more you grow. As you move towards your passion, some of your friends will naturally fall away. They just aren’t a good fit for you anymore and that’s okay. The only real thing you can focus on is where your heart is taking you. The rest is up to life.
6. Others Can Do It Better
Maybe they can, but using this excuse now is a poor way to look at anything. Instead, think of this as an opportunity to prove your worth. Show your talents and demonstrate how you can achieve something. The greatest satisfaction in the world is creating something from scratch yourself, seeing it through and achieving success.
7. I Don’t Know How
Making your passion a reality seems difficult, especially when you start bumping into all the technical hurdles. The good news is that there are plenty of tutorials, guides and mentors out there that are more than happy to help you out with whatever problems you may face. In the end, all excuses are just excuses. Nobody knew nothing when they started, but they were able to succeed by educating themselves.
8. I Don’t Have A Great Idea
The concept of the great idea that hits you out of nowhere and becomes your ticket to legendary success is overrated. It’s all about execution when it comes to business anyways. You can make an average idea phenomenal with great execution but you can’t make a great idea successful with poor execution.
9. I’m Afraid
Fear means you’re heading in the right direction. Life without fear would be like tacos without salsa. Fear is normal when you’re doing and learning something new. Somehow, somewhere we’ve learned that we should be fearless. We forget that fear is a part of life. Fear is not there to be gotten rid of, but to be acknowledged and overcame.
10. This Can Wait Until Later
When you’re really trying to get out of a project or task, throwing out the notion that this one can be put off until another time doesn’t garner any points either. It tells the person who’s looking for results that you’re a skater, someone who can’t be counted on to get the job done. Sooner or later, you’re likely to find that your procrastination has costed you dearly.
Conclusion
Following your dreams takes the willingness to challenge your mind. There’s always an excuse that seems to stop you from taking the next step. In this post, I shared with you 10 ridiculous reasons why people never take action.
